OFF-GRID POWER SYSTEMS

Modular plug and play off-grid power boxes, solar panels and cabling

VISION

Powering construction, monitoring and survey devices and instruments when reliable mains power is not available can present a complex challenge.

Our range of PowerBoxes have been specifically developed to provide short and long term off-grid power supply to DC powered devices.

From wireless remote monitoring communication gateways and devices, to GNSS instruments and complete Automated Total Station installations,

PowerBoxes

Our PowerBox range has been developed to provide robust long term off-grid power for a variety of devices and instruments installed in remote and harsh conditions.

PowerBoxes are designed to be easy to transport to even the most difficult locations and quick to set up with quick connect MC4 solar cable connectors and 12Vdc IP67 CNLinko power supply socket.

We have power cables available to connect a wide range of devices.

What can they power?

Unlike many of the consumer power banks that are intended to power and charge multiple devices like mobiles, laptops or to run 240V domestic mains devices, our PowerBoxes are specifically developed to support one or two DC powered units from 12-48V and provide long term remote power supply 365 days a year without the need for continual monitoring or maintenance.

We are constantly testing new devices and instruments to determine which of our PowerBox range is the right fit. If you have a device or instrument you would like to power from one of our PowerBoxes that is not listed above, please get in touch and we will be happy to work with you to help select the right PowerBox. We can supply in-house assembled power cables either from our stock range or we can look to a add a new cable assembly if we do not have one with the right connector in our current range.

Solar Panels & Mounts

A-Quick Panels

Solid frame solar panels set up in seconds!

Solar panels kits with integrated, quick to assemble, mounting frames, that collapse within the back recess of the panel.

Solar panels with A-Quick stands fitted to them take seconds to set up and collapse. The stand stores inside the frame of the solar panel, minimising the space needed to store and transport you panels.

Solar panels with A-Quick stands are ideal for installing solar panels on hard standing and can be easily secured to the ground with sand bags or U-pegs.

We have 3 A-Quick solar panel kits available to order from stockroom 175W to 525W.

Cables

We have a wide variety of power cables available as stock that can connect our PowerBoxes to all of the devices detailed above and many more.

We make cable assemblies in-house so if the cable you need isn't available, please get in touch and let us know what device you are wanting to power or what connector you need.

Installation Accessories

  • How do I know if my solar panels are working correctly and providing enough power to charge the batteries?
The solar charge controller shows on the display if there is PV charge being received from the solar panels. MPS systems If the top LED light is on, or flashing on/off, the solar charge controller is receiving power from the solar panels. The solar charge controller needs to be receiving a voltage which is at or above the battery voltage. e.g. a 12v battery needs a minimum of 12v PV feed from the solar panels. You can scroll through the current system state on the solar charge controller by pressing the central up and down buttons below the display. LPS systems The LPS system solar charge controller does not have status LEDs. To view the current state of the solar charge, press select on the solar charge controller until the solar charge status is displayed.
  • How can I check the state of the batteries?
The solar charge controller in both MPS and LPS systems shows the status of the batteries on the display. Scroll through the status screens until the battery icon is displayed The screen displays - Current battery voltage - Battery charge status - Battery voltage type
  • Check the Solar Charge Controller is configured correctly for your batteries
The solar charge controller controls the DC power output, solar feed and battery charge. Ensuring that the solar charge controller is configured correctly for the type of battery installed is vital to ensure the health of the battery and the systems ability to recover power when batteries are over drained. All systems we supply are configured by default for LiFeP04 batteries. But our systems can be used with sealed lead acid and gel batteries (although we do not recommend this). To check or change the battery type set on the solar charge controller within MPS systems. - Press the up or down button on the solar charge controller until you can see the battery voltage screen - Hold down the right hand button to enter the sub menu. The battery type will start flashing in the bottom right corner. - Press the up or down button to scroll through the different battery types LI - LiFeP04 SLD - Sealed Lead Acid GEL - Gel FLD - Flooded USE - User Defined Parameters - To confirm the battery type selection press the right hand button. - When selecting LI, the battery voltage can also be change if required between 12v and 24v. In most cases the solar charge controller will have automatically identified the battery voltage.
  • Is the power output always on?
The default setting on both MPS and LPS systems is that the power output can be switched on and off manually. MPS systems To turn the power output on/off, press the right hand button below the solar charge controller display. Above the display the 3rd LED down will light up when the power output is on and go off when the power output is off. LPS systems To turn the power output on/off, press the Enter button to the right of the solar charge controller display. When the power output is on, the arrow between the battery and the lightbulb will be shown on the solar charge controller display. Both MPS and LPS power output settings can be changed to automate when the power output is on/off. Please refer to the solar charge controller manual suppled with your solar power systems to check how to make changes to the power output settings.
  • What power output connector do the LPS systems have?
All LPS system have CNLinko 2-pin sockets on then outside of the system enclosure to connect devices to. If you required a cable assembly for a specific device, please get in touch. sales@dyna-moinstruments.com
  • What power output connector do the MPS systems have?
MPS systems have multiple power connectors on the outside of the system enclosure. If you required a cable assembly for a specific device, please get in touch. sales@dyna-moinstruments.com

Matching solar panels to your PowerBox and the device you are running is key to maximising the performance of your off-grid power system. The solar panel should be able to recharge the PowerBox in less than 1.5hrs of peak sunlight even in winter to ensure that the off-grid installation is able to provide power 365 days a year 24/7.

All our PowerBoxes are fitted with industry standard MC4 connectors that can be used to connect any 12V solar panel* with MC4 connectors.

We can assist with selecting the right balance of PowerBox and solar panels to keep your devices online.

*Please take note of the maximum panel size compatible with each PowerBox as stated in the product details
